new paisley grillcloth for my Vox
yea!!!
something special coming up soon. gonna be some fun!
thunder!!!
started to 'relic' an old epiphone custom shop thunderbird bass.
funny, a t-bird has 1 sound. need lots of eq to give it some top end snap. coming out nicely, looks like it's seen some wear. always loved the way they look. now to work on the action and p/up adjustment.

primary colors
rehearsal tonight. gonna put 'our' spin on a few covers.
8/16/11
45 yrears ago tonight i was at jfk stadium in philly seeing the beatles. 15th row. i actually remember it well. what a night.
practice makes perfect...
back to rehearsal this week with primary colors. originally we had just worked on 10 songs for our 1st gig. now we can concentrate on the bulk of our back catalogue and some new material. will be interesting to see how this plays out after 30 plus years.
ouch!
been playing a lot recently. hands back to hurting like hell.
the primary colors/tony mecca gig went...well.... murphy's law applied that night.

rehearsals continue...
Primary Colors has now got 3 rehearsals under their belt. how did we play that stuff!? we were young then, wow. going to have to simplify some of the riffs and changes we used to do. old fingers just won't do it anymore. the vocals are sounding good though, everyone just fell right into their spots. trying to put together 1 set for next month. sounds easy, but...not.
everything old is new again.....
ok, this is strange but gonna be a lot of fun. it's also gonna rock like hell!. was talking to two old bandmates from 1980 - 1982. we had some great songs. we got together to play. the magic never left! after 29 years, we are going to play again. used to be my favorite way to play...3 piece. all of us playing our asses off with 3 part harmonies! the return of "PRIMARY COLORS"
more fun...
couple of great gigs with the Heavy MeNtal Gypsys. did cookie's in s.philly. always a good time. small room but they're there to hear music. then the Note in W. Chester, pa. Bam Margers's club. great place, pa and soundman. openened for 80/0's band, Gene Loves Jezebel. finishing with a show at the North Star Bar in Philly. openers Mark Evans & Reggie Wu debuted their new band, Ever/After. great show.
fun
great night with Red Square Theatre's 2nd annual skiffle. great performance's and i somehow managed to pull off the music and sound. not used to being on that side of the board.
trailers and promo's
been working with Red Square Theatre Co. on trailers and background music for their upcoming fundraiser and their next production, Lunch Lady TV. a lot of fun.
everything old is new again
going over old material from cd's, cassette's, and 8 tracks. some stuff should stay in the archives and some may need to be revisited. worked on a few, re-eq'd, and edited in sonar. some i may have to totally recut.
shit!
well, that wasn't a good idea. started to lose it after a few songs. playing in the studio is a little different then live, when you start to dig in...hurts and you lose control.
gigging again!
finally! 1st gig since surgery w/Hammer Down 5/18 @ the Pennant. hope my hand holds out as this is gonna be a blast.
rehab
no, not that kind.....physical therapy is a bitch! twice a week i pay someone to hurt me. i can do that on my own. wow, this is much more than i bargained for. had a lot of work done so getting back into shape is tough. 2 weeks ago i was able to to my thumb to my pinky. big step! still can't do most everyday things without pain. can play a little bass with 1st 2 fingers of right hand, but still have pain and trouble holding a pick. soon..........
healing
cast off-stitches out-cast back on. i need 2 hands!
hard cast
wrappings off today, x rays and a hard cast. all good just ugly looking. still a little pain but getting better everyday. can't wait to play an instrument!
surgery...
ok, all went well. little painful but i'll l've. just gotta get used to using my left hand for everything for awhile. awkward, yes. now some down time to use writing, composing and playing keyboards with one left hand. interesting or tragic.
one more show....
before my surgery.scared to death but can't wait to play. this is going to be a fun night. mark evans of heaven's edge will be opening the evening. then tony & the gypsys. good food, good drink, good people, good music all equal good times. this is the show not to miss!
new toys...10/16/10
now running
Korg D3200
cakewalk SONAR

fun!.....10/16/10
played a show tonight with tony mecca & the heavy mental gypsy's. one of the last few gigs before my impending surgery. it felt real good. jim and i are locking together more often now. two more gigs to go before i get cut and i'm gonna play like a fucking madman. almost want to cancel it but it has to be done.
finally!!!
9/21/10 - basically done a few more thousand cables and we're there. doing some test tracks. gotta learn all this new gear.
SecretSound Recording...almost back
ok, it's been a long time since the flood. had the work done on the basement. a little more cleaning up and working on the subfloor. after that install the new floor. unwire all the old gear and plug in the new. new?! yea, working on getting some nice stuff again. still have the fostex 16 track hard drive recorder. just bought a korg D3200 32 track digital workstation and am still investigating a pro tools setup. whichever way i go, it can't be fast enough. been down so long i can't wait to get back to laying down some tracks.
really, almost done
all the tracking has been finished. now it's time to mix it all up. yum, yum.
almost done...
still have to cut the bass part for 'mercy st.' and touch up 1 or 2 others. i think i'm going to use the upright bass for this one as we want a 'small combo' type feel. gotta lot of practicing to do on this one.
5/22/10 - finally
finishing bass tracks for tony mecca & the heavy mental gypsies today.
a great weekend of music...
what a weekend, saturday 5/15 with tony mecca & the heavy mental gypsies @ the northstar bar and then again sunday 5/16 with the delcats @ a benefit 'blues for the cure' in odessa, de. both shows had great crowds and a great time was had by all
